her feet…

Her feet floated in the air more often than not. A movement of the winds can sway her direction in a moment. The firmness that exists with two feet planted firmly on the earth is not present here.  Leading her to move in different directions rapidly and without notice even to herself.  What would life be like, she thought if her feet were planted firmly on the ground like sprouting roots deep into the soil. How would she feel if this were to happen.

No more worrying about what direction the wind would take her next. No worrying about the consequences that sit with moving and shifting so quickly every time the wind shift and changes. “It’s so unsettling,” she said to herself. “Why did I think this was a way to stay in a moment”. She wondered why she listened to the trends of the world around her.

She wondered when these thoughts had arrived to her mind and when in her lifetime she began to move with the directions of the wind and when she chose to lift her feet, floating above the ground as she walked through her life and her experiences.  She sits now on a chair wooden and sturdy holding her body, containing her and her thoughts. She sits in this chair that is providing her support as she tries now to plant her feet on the ground. Her feet touches the ground, and immediately there is a desire to lift up. She tries again and wonders what it would take for her. What would it take for her to grow roots, stay still, standing firmly as the challenge of the wind approaches her and offers her movement, an opportunity to change direction. She thinks about challenging it back and offering it support and steadiness. She wonders more about this as she sips away and worries about what tomorrow would bring…
